The Men of Malvern will provide an opportunity for local residents (men and women of all ages) to learn more about important health issues at our second forum the “The Basics of Healthy Living”, to be held at 5.30 pm on Thursday 9th June in the Banquet Hall, at Malvern Town Hall.

Last year we ran a highly informative programme on main stream issues. It was enthusiastically received but not enough people attended. This year we will be concentrating on how to achieve a healthy life style and coming to this would be a great way to kick in to International Men’s Health week.

This year the Forum is being co-sponsored by Cabrini Health and the East Malvern Branch of the Bendigo Bank. The Stonnington Council has again supported us by providing the venue.

The programme is as follows:

Section 1.

5.30-6.10. Healthy eating.

Basics of Healthy eating. Alison Spence. Academic from Deakin.

Treatment of Obesity. Dr Karen McNeil. Cabrini endocrinologist.

Section 2.

6.10-6.50. Healthy sleep.

Healthy sleep patterns. Dr Peter Solin. Cabrini Respiratory Physician.

Treatment of Obstructive Sleep apnoea. Dr Chris Daley. Cabrini Respiratory Physician

Section 3.

6.50 -7.30. Exercise and Relaxation.

Exercising the body.   Dr Ashlee Hendy. Sports physiologist Deakin.

Relaxing the mind. Dr Lisa Engel. Clinical psychologist.

Our Health Forum 2015 was generously sponsored by Bank of Melbourne through Bryan Lowe, the Manager of the Malvern Branch. Facilities were provided by Stonnington Council and Malvern GP Dr Michael Hurley led the organisation and chaired the forum. Six doctors, all Men of Malvern gave freely of their time to speak at the forum – Gary Richardson, Adrian Polglase, Ross Snow, Jonathan Habersberger, Doug Lording and Nathan Lawrentschuk.

Men of Malvern thanks them all for their contribution.
